	Abstract: A qualitative counterpart of Kalman filtering is proposed, which is contrasted with updating operations based on imaging in the sense of Lewis. Filtering and updating are defined and compared in the framework of possibility theory. A syntactic counterpart of qualitative filtering (and updating) is outlined in the setting of possibilistic logic.
